Patriots Announce Multiple Roster Adjustments
FOXBOROUGH, Mass.— The New England Patriots revealed several roster moves. They have promoted running back D'Ernest Johnson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and placed running back Terrell Jennings on injured reserve. Additionally, defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.
Johnson, 29, has spent portions of his career with the Browns (2019–22), Jaguars (2023–24), Ravens (2025), and Cardinals (2025). He joined the Patriots after being on their roster for three straight games this season, appearing in matchups against Atlanta (Nov. 2), Tampa Bay (Nov. 9), and New York Jets (Nov. 13). The 5-foot-11, 205-pound back originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Cleveland in 2019, coming out of the University of South Florida. Across his career, he has played in 99 games with three starts, compiling 996 rushing yards on 219 attempts and 3 rushing touchdowns, along with 465 receiving yards on 53 receptions. He has also contributed on special teams, returning 33 kicks for 772 yards.
Taylor, 23, joined the Patriots’ practice squad on Oct. 16, 2025. A rookie free agent out of Miami (Fla.) in 2024, he is a 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman who has appeared in 16 NFL games, recording 27 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 2 passes defended. He was released by the New York Jets on Oct. 14, 2025 after appearing in two games this season.
